With a diverse background in various types of sciences, I learned to think outside the box with a unique mindset that might be ideal for your graphic needs. Creative thinking requires a strong imaginative mind that is unique with an atypical point of view to the world of art.

Image manipulation

CMY & RGb

RGB and CMY are two color models commonly used in visual design to create vibrant and eye- catching compositions.
RGB, which stands for Red, Green, and Blue, is an additive color model used in digital design. It works by combining different intensities of these three primary colors to create a wide range of hues.

On the other hand, CMY, which stands for Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow, is a subtractive color model used in print design. It works by subtracting these three primary colors from white light to create different colors.

When combined at full intensity, cyan, magenta, and yellow absorbs all light, resulting in black. By adjusting the intensity of each color, designers can achieve various shades and create appealing prints, such as brochures, posters, and
packaging.

A displacement map is a powerful tool in graphic design, particularly in Photoshop. It allows designers to create stunning visual effects by distorting or displacing the pixels of an image based on the grayscale values of another image or texture. This technique adds depth and dimension to flat images, making them more visually engaging and captivating. In this image, I have turned the white skirt into a colorful skirt with a flower design, without affecting the textures or depth/dimension of the skirt. The possibilities with displacement maps are endless, a versatile technique that adds a new level of realism and visual interest to graphic design projects.

Retouching and touch are essential skills in the world of graphic design, especially in the context of fashion and beauty. These techniques allow designers to perfect images, enhancing the overall aesthetic and creating a polished final product.

Whether it’s smoothing out skin imperfections, adjusting lighting, or refining details, retouching plays a crucial role in achieving perfection in fashion design presentations. By utilizing these techniques, designers can create stunning visuals that captivate audiences and showcase the beauty of their work.

Reflections in the context of graphic design add a subtle touch of elegance and sophistication to any design. By adding chains and incorporating reflective elements to the purse (right) creates a sense of depth and dimension.

Reflections can be used to mimic the effect of light bouncing off a surface, giving the design a realistic and polished look. Reflections can enhance the overall aesthetic and convey a sense of professionalism.

Coloring an outdoor object can be very challenging due to light exposure or if there are many foreground elements (e.g. trees) and may cause issues when using the automated coloring function. In this case, I have painted the house manually due to the trees in the foreground. It can be a tedious work.

Lights and shadows

Lights and shadows add dimension and depth of field to each element in visual compositions. By strategically positioning light sources and shadows to a simple 2-dimension drawing, designers can create realistic three-dimensional artwork.

One aspect to consider is the size of objects in relation to the light source. Larger objects tend to cast large shadows, while smaller objects create more subtle shadows. This variation in shadow size helps create a sense of scale, space and proportion in a design. Moreover, a light source positioned from above can create dramatic shadows, adding a sense of depth and intensity. On the other hand, a light source positioned from below can create a more mysterious and surreal effect. In our example above, the light source is coming from the left corner.

Typography is the art or procedure of arranging type or processing data. It plays a crucial role in graphic design, especially when it comes to presenting text in design. The choice of fonts, sizes, and spacing can greatly impact the overall visual appeal and readability of a design. When selecting fonts, designers consider the personality and tone they want to convey. The majority of typographic design is more related to print. The image below shows how typography can enhance the overall product presentation.

Brochures

Adobe InDesign, with its intuitive interface and extensive range of features enables designers to create and publish stunning layouts for print and digital media. The app offers advanced text formatting options, such as paragraph styles and character styles, which streamline the design process and ensure consistency throughout the project. It is a powerful tool used for creating professional layouts for brochures, magazines, posters, eBooks and interactive PDFs for print and digital media. It offers a wide range of features in typography controls, advanced layout options, and seamless integration with other Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Trifolds

A trifold brochure is a versatile and effective tool in graphic design for promoting businesses and conveying information. It is a printed piece of marketing material that is divided into a two-sided page with three panels, providing ample space for content and visuals. These brochures are commonly used in various industries, such as tourism, real estate, and healthcare, to showcase products, services, or events. The design of a three-fold brochure allows for a logical flow of information, with each panel serving a specific purpose. Selection of fonts, colors, and images that align with the brand’s identity and effectively communicate the intended message. The layout and composition of the brochure are specifically designed to guide the reader’s eye and highlight key information.

Business card

A business card serves as a tangible representation of a company or individual, conveying their brand identity and contact information. When designing a business card, graphic designers consider various elements such as layout, typography, colors, and imagery. These elements should align with the company’s overall branding strategy, ensuring consistency across all marketing materials. A well-designed business card can leave a lasting impression on potential clients or customers by incorporating eye-catching visuals and unique design elements.

moodboard

Mood boards help artists gather and organize their ideas and inspirations. These visual collages provide a space for designers to explore different concepts, color palettes, typography, and imagery. Creating a mood board allows graphic designers to visually communicate their vision to clients or team members. It helps in establishing a common understanding and ensures that everyone involved is on the same page. By presenting a collection of images, textures, and fonts, mood boards enable effective brainstorming and collaboration. It is about overall aesthetic they are aiming to achieve. Whether it’s for a logo, website, or packaging design, mood boards provide a visual reference that keeps designers inspired and driven to create outstanding and cohesive visuals.

Logo

Logo represents the identity and personality of a brand. It serves as a visual symbol that helps consumers recognize and differentiate a company or product from its competitors. A well-designed logo creates a strong brand image. It’s unique, memorable, and easily recognizable.
Logo design involves careful consideration of color, typography, shape, and overall composition. These elements should align with the brand’s target audience, industry, and desired perception. A successful logo can make a lasting impression and become synonymous with the brand it represents. All images below are created by using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Canva.

Color theory

Color theory is about colors interactions with each other and how they affect our perceptions. Monochromatic: Involves only one hue with different shades and tints. Analogous: Choosing three colors, close to one another on the color wheel (e.g., green, purple and violet). A variant is to mix white with these to form a “high-key” analogous color scheme. Complementary: Using two opposite colors to increase the contrast. Triadic: Take three equally distant colors on the color wheel. This scheme often forms a triangle in color wheel. These colors may not be vibrant, but it creates harmony and high contrast. It’s easier to make appealing designs with this scheme than with other schemes.
